Local History

The schoolhouse's story, preserved in its own words

The Carcassonne Community Center archive preserves the stories of the schoolhouse, the dance, and the people who kept this community together.

Why it matters

The Center holds a remarkable collection of local history — documents from the boarding school era, the Carcassonne School Book, and the history of Carcassonne itself. Together they tell the story of a community that has gathered in one building for over a century.

Preserving the record

We are working to organize, preserve, and digitize these materials so they can be shared with researchers, families, and future generations. It is slow, careful work, and volunteers make it possible.

If you enjoy sorting, scanning, or researching local history, we would love your help. Reach out through the contact page or mention it when you get involved.
